Provenance Properties will host an online charity auction to benefit Cayman’s Acts of Random Kindness (ARK) on Thursday, 23 July from 5 to 8 p.m. Funds raised will go towards ARK Feed Cayman 2020 initiative, aiming to produce and donate hot meals across the island, as an increased number of people are facing challenging times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Donations for the auction may include art, small bespoke pieces of furniture and décor, luxury experiences and designer luxury items such as handbags, clothing and jewellery. If interested in donating, please contact destinations@dart.ky to provide photos and details of items to be donated.
Guests will access the event through an online auction platform, which enables them to track their favourite items and see how bids are progressing. Guests can participate by placing a bid on any of the donated items or by providing a cash donation. The auction site will open in the days prior to the event, allowing for attendees to explore what is for auction and select the items they plan to bid on.
“We are proud to partner with an organisation that has been tirelessly providing relief to those who are struggling in our community, as part of our commitment to contribute to economic recovery efforts in the Cayman Islands,” said Jackie Doak, broker at Provenance Properties and president of business development at Dart. “As a brokerage we know that clutter-free spaces in homes enhance liveability and, for those wishing to sell their properties, the appeal of the property also. Many Cayman residents took the opportunity to clean up their space whilst sheltering in place. We hope this auction provides an outlet for those items that in turn can help others in need.”
All donations from the auction will be directed towards ARK’s Feed Cayman programme, which aims to distribute hot meals and food cards (for the island’s major supermarkets) within the community. Since March 2020, this list has significantly increased as the programme is not only targeting vulnerable families, but also individuals who have suffered job losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Founded in 2006, Cayman’s ARK is a registered non-profit organisation run solely by volunteers.
“ARK is delighted by the invaluable support of Provenance Properties and the opportunity to benefit from the fabulous online charity auction,” said Tara Nielsen, founder of Cayman’s ARK.
Ms. Nielsen added that ARK has been operating its Kindness Kitchen for more than three months, after starting the initiative in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and has so far provided 8,000 hot meals and soups for more than 2,000 people a week. “However, we still have a long way to go…hundreds of people still depend on food support.
“ARK relies 100% on private-sector donations; an event such as this online auction will enable us to continue our vital work to provide hunger relief for those impacted by the economic and social effects of COVID-19. ARK is sincerely grateful to Provenance Properties and to all those who donate items to auction.”
