This morning, the RCIPS was informed about a disturbing video depicting sexual abuse that has been circulating on messaging service, Whatsapp, recently.

The RCIPS requests that anyone that has received video content of this nature to immediately stop sharing the content and delete it from their phones.

“The circulation of illicit video content is not only disturbing and potentially puts victims in greater danger, but it is also a criminal activity that comes with a potential 25 years imprisonment for transmission, and 15 years for possession,” says Superintendent Peter Lansdown. “If persons receive illicit video content via digital messaging services do not share it further and inform the police immediately by calling 911”.

The RCIPS is investigating the video and wishes to thank the member of the public that brought it to their attention.
