Red Bay Primary School (RBPS), on Friday afternoon (19 March), amassed 363.5 points to win the 2021 Inter-Primary Schools Sports Meet ahead of 19 other schools.

Prospect Primary School (PPS) placed second with 287.33 points, while third place in the athletic meet, held at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex, went to Sir John A Cumber Primary School (SJACPS) with 232.50 points.

Cayman Academy and Truth for Youth School placed first and second, respectively, in the small schools' category.

Head of the Local Organising Committee, Mrs. Gloria Bell, congratulated Red Bay Primary on its victory, adding, "Over the past three days we have witnessed exciting performances from approximately 731 young athletes in culmination of our schools' physical education syllabus. I am pleased to see the athletic prowess and spirit of camaraderie that our young participants have demonstrated throughout the meet and look forward to their continued growth and development."

RBPS Jaysean Seymour was named Division Four Champion, and Victor Ludorum (overall individual high point winner male) having won the 100-metre dash, the 200-metre run, the 800-metre run and the Division Four Boys' Long Jump.

Victrix Ludorum (overall individual high point winner female) went to SJACPS student, and Division Five Girls Champion Krystal Campbell, who won the 100-metre dash, 200-metre run and the Division Five Girls' Long Jump competition.

Other outstanding athletes included Division One champions Victoria King (PPS) and Elias Reid (Cayman Prep), as well as Division Two champions Daniqua Howell (PPS) and Oshawney Johnson (Theoline McCoy Primary). Joanna Clarke Primary's Asyria Ngyou and George Town Primary's Tahir Zelaya were declared Division Four champions, while Joanna Clarke Primary School's Allyssa Burton and Theoline McCoy Primary School's Michael Connor were named Champion Girl and Boy for Divisions Four and Five.

A significant meet highlight - the cheerleading competition, held on Friday, was contested by JCPS (Joanna Clarke Primary), RBPS, SJACPS and PPS and won by the Red Bay Primary Polar Bears. Sir John A Cumber Primary School placed second.

Notable attendees included Minister for Education, Youth, Sports, Agriculture and Lands (EYSAL) Hon. Juliana O'Connor-Connolly, who officially opened day one of the meet and Ministry of EYSAL Deputy Chief Officer Mr. Joel Francis and Acting Chief Officer Ms. Lyneth Monteith, who opened days two and three on the Minister's behalf, and assisted with medal presentations.

Also in attendance were DES Acting Director Ms. Tammy Hopkins, who gave the welcome address on the first two days and Director of Sports, Mr. Kurt Hyde, who delivered remarks and assisted with the judging of the cheerleading competition.
