Around 11.30AM, on Friday 17 March, police received a report of a robbery in the vicinity of the cement factory on Seymour Road, George Town.
The victim, a 40 year old woman of George Town, was walking along Seymour Road when a man on a bicycle rode up to her and grabbed her blue hand bag from off her shoulder and brandished a knife. On seeing the knife the woman released her bag, and the man rode off with the bag in the direction of North Sound Road.
The woman called out for help to other persons in the vicinity but no one was able to help her at the time. Her bag contained a sum of money and other personal belongings.
The woman described the man as short, dark complexion, plaited short hair and a small beard under his chin. He was wearing jean shorts and a black T-shirt.
