On Wednesday 24 July, RCIPS supported its partner agencies CBC and WORC on a joint operation targeting a George Town construction site, to identify and apprehend persons found to be committing immigration offences.

During the operation, workers were approached and their identities checked against Immigration records. Those found to be in breach of working outside the term and conditions of their work permit were arrested for immigration offences. Footage taken during the operation identified men hiding on the roof of the construction site, who were amongst those apprehended.

The operation resulted in the arrest of several men by CBC and WORC Officers, one of which had been overstaying for 10 years in the Cayman Islands.

Later that day, the RCIPS arrested a further three persons for outstanding Court warrants offences, in an unrelated operation. “These results demonstrate the joint agency commitment to weeding out those persons that choose to flout our immigration laws and use illegitimate avenues to stay in the Cayman Islands, says Inspector Ian Yearwood. “The RCIPS will continue to support our partner agencies to target and apprehend illegal workers”.
