The Elections Office has confirmed strong voter engagement ahead of the General Election and Referendum, with 2,382 ballots already issued through absentee (postal) and early mobile voting, representing just under 10% of all registered voters.

As at the close of mobile voting on Saturday, 26 April, a total of 1,345 electors had cast their ballots at early-voting stations across the Islands. Additionally, 1,037 postal ballots have been issued to electors who will be off-island and unable to attend a polling station on Election Day. For reference, during the 2021 General Election, 719 mobile voters participated, and 582 postal ballots were issued, meaning the turnout in 2025 has already significantly exceeded previous figures.

Supervisor of Elections, Wesley Howell said, “We are pleased to see the large number of voters taking advantage of the convenience and accessibility offered by both postal and mobile voting and hope that we will see a record level voter turnout on Wednesday.”

The Elections Office notes that early voter turnout has already exceeded comparable figures from the last general election.

Key Reminders for Voters:

Postal Voters: Completed postal ballots must be received by the Returning Officer no later than 6:00 p.m. on Election Day (Wednesday, 30 April 2025). Electors are encouraged to return their ballots as soon as possible to ensure they are counted.

Election and Referendum Day Voting: Polls will be open on Wednesday, 30 April 2025, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. All voters are reminded to bring a valid photo ID when attending a polling station.
