The Department of Education Services (DES) advises that the Sir John A. Cumber Primary School will be closed tomorrow (1 September) due to an electrical emergency.
"The school's electrical metre experienced a malfunction resulting in damage to the metre, associated wiring and conduit," said DES Acting Director Mr. Elroy Bryan.
"Based on reports from the Caribbean Utilities Company (CUC) and the Public Works Department, it has been determined that replacing of the electrical metre and affected components is necessary to ensure the continued safety of our students and staff."
Mr. Bryan continued that repair work has commenced.
'Unfortunately, due to the complexity of the repairs and the need for a thorough inspection and approval process, the school will need to be closed tomorrow,’ The Acting Director stated.
In addition, Mr. Bryan apologises to parents for the inconvenience caused by the closure and to seeks their understanding as the team works to address the issue.
