Public Health has issued the COVID-19 Situational Report for Epidemiological, or Epi., Week 14 (3 - 9 April 2022). Wednesday 6 April.

Unfortunately, one person died during Epi. Week 14. The patient was fully vaccinated and suffered from severe comorbidities. There have been 27 deaths from COVID-19 related causes in the Cayman Islands since the beginning of the pandemic.

During Epi. Week 14, there were a total of 284 new cases of COVID-19 reported by Public Health. This was four cases less than were reported in the previous Epi. Week (27 March – 2 April 2022).

Officials noted that 1,046 tests were conducted in Epi. Week 14, compared to 1,436 tests conducted in Epi. Week 14 and to 1,179 tests in Epi. Week 12. The test positivity rate, a new indicator, was at 20.9 percent for Epi. Week 14.

During Epi. Week 14, there were seven inpatients admitted to hospital. Of these, 50 percent were vaccinated. There have been 255 COVID-19 patients admitted since March 2020.
