Third Meeting of Parliament’s 2024-2025 Session to Begin on 31st January, Key Bills to be Debated

The Third Meeting of the 2024-2025 Session of Parliament is set to begin on Friday, 31st January 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the House of Parliament, George Town. This decision was announced during the final Sitting of the Second Meeting on 16th December 2024 as the House adjourned. During the upcoming Meeting, Members of Parliament (MPs) are expected to deliberate on significant legislative matters, including the following Bills being brought to the Parliament by the Government:
1. Referendum (Cruise Berthing Infrastructure, Gambling, and Cannabis) Bill, 2024
(published 23rd December 2024)
2. Customs and Border Control (Amendment) Bill, 2024 (published 27th December 2024)
3. Beneficial Ownership Transparency (Amendment) Bill, 2024 (published 27th December
2024)
4. National Conservation (Amendment) Bill, 2024 (published 31st December 2024) 5. Anti-Sexual Harassment Bill (published 8th January 2025)
In accordance with Parliament Standing Orders, the Meeting may also include Parliamentary Questions from Opposition Members directed to Government Ministers, Statements by Government Members, and Motions. (Members have until 20th January to submit Parliamentary Questions and until 23rd January to file Motions through the Clerk to the Honourable Speaker for consideration in the Meeting.)
The public is invited to follow the proceedings through the live broadcasts on the Government’s YouTube channel, CIGTV cable network, and Radio Cayman. Members of the public are also welcome to attend in person at the House of Parliament after registering with Security. Relevant documents and updates will be posted on the Parliament’s official website, www.parliament.ky, ahead of the Meeting.
