The Ministry and Department of Tourism hosted cruise industry executives for a whistle-stop destination familiarisation exercise this week (14th and 15th March).
The visiting delegation included representatives from Azamara, Celebrity Cruises, Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America, Norwegian Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, MSC Cruises, Royal Caribbean and the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association.
The nine executives were treated to a virtual tour of the Cayman Islands to discuss the changes to the tourism landscape due to the pandemic. The visit also served as conduit for discussion around experience diversification. Part of the dialog included the Port Zeus Project planned for Cayman Brac, and the Waterfront Tourism Experience Project (WTEP) spearheaded by the Ministry of Tourism.
During his presentation on the WTEP, Minister for Tourism and Transport. Hon. Kenneth Bryan explained the two projects illustrates that the Cayman Islands tourism product is dynamic and growing despite the challenges borne out of the pandemic.
“What it also illustrates is that our government, business owners and other stakeholders are committed to bringing new experiences to the market which will give our cruise passengers the very best Cayman Islands encounter possible,” the Minister said.
