The Cayman Islands Ministry and Department of Tourism have received over 2,000 registrations for the displaced tourism employees’ stipend since its launch 21 May 2020. The validation process for all submissions is in process and is anticipated to be complete the first week of July.
“My team at the department of tourism have been diligently reviewing all applications for validity, a process that includes verification of employment information, contacting individuals to clarify information submitted, and identifying the most efficient payment mechanism noting that no two cases are exactly the same,” commented Hon Minister of Tourism Moses Kirkconnell. “We are committed to getting this process completed expeditiously and will meet our goal for the issuance of the first payments to go out.”
For persons who applied at the onset of the registration period, the Hon. Minister said: “We take the circumstances of every person who has applied very seriously and we ask for a little more patience as we work through this verification process.”
The Displaced Tourism Employee stipend is part of the overall Cayman Islands Government assistance plan for the most vulnerable in the community who were severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
