An alleged breach of isolation protocols by a traveller who has been quarantining at a government sponsored facility has been reported to the Royal Cayman Island Police Service (RCIPS) and is currently under investigation.
The traveller, who left the facility on Sunday 6 December, has since been located by police and will be required to complete their period of isolation, per the Public Health Law.
A thorough review of the security arrangements at the facility is also underway and Public Health will undertake contact tracing as necessary.
The public and travellers are reminded that anyone that is found to be in breach of the mandatory quarantine provisions will be warned for intended prosecution and are liable on conviction to a fine of up to ten thousand dollars and imprisonment for up to two years.
A further public update will be provided in due course.
