The University College of the Cayman Islands is making it easier for students to enrol this fall.

Just in time for the registration period that opened on July 8, current students will find guidance for registering for classes and making payments by visiting the myUCCI webpage that has been enhanced with an electronic payment system. The new automated payment gateway will provide students with an easy, fast and secure experience. This improvement was developed to address the challenges in delivering student services during the COVID-19 lockdown and UCCI’s continued student-centred approach.

President and CEO, Stacy McAfee, said, “for 45 years UCCI has been processing face-to-face and telephone payments. It’s a huge milestone for the university college to transition to an online payment system. It will not just make it easier for students to self-pay through any internet connected device but it’s much faster and makes it convenient by saving them time. Our students can also rest assured that each transaction is backed up with the highest level of security and anti-fraud protection.”

The payment system is not the only improvement that the UCCI Finance Office has recently introduced. This summer, flexible financial services were made available to current students in response to COVID-19 hardships. One of the features of the new payment portal allows students to access customisable payment plans. Starting July 8, current students can now register and secure a spot in their classes of choice with no payment upfront. Flexible tuition and fee payment plans can be set-up after registration and can be extended up to November 30, 2020.

“There is no better time to invest in education and it is our responsibility to provide options that will allow students to attain financial flexibility, so that they can concentrate on their academic goals,” McAfee said.

UCCI’s Student Life Office has worked to establish several needs-based and merit-based scholarships over the years, in addition to tuition assistance and financial aid for eligible students.

“These opportunities have been made possible through partnerships with local organisations and dedicated community partners,” McAfee said. “We have also encouraged students to pursue scholarship opportunities with the Cayman Islands Government and through private sector scholarship offerings.

“The Cayman Islands Government has made a substantial investment in UCCI throughout the years,” McAfee added, “and this year is no exception. As the nation’s primary provider of tertiary education, it is our mission to ensure that students can access quality teaching and learning, an enhanced experience through our student life resources and that we make financial support services always accessible.”

All students should register early to secure the classes they want and the schedule that works best for them. Students can follow the instructions on the myUCCI webpage (https://www.ucci.edu.ky/myucci) to complete their class registration as well as to set-up flexible payment options.
