Education, Covid 19

Summer classes at the University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI) start May 11 and are being held online. Registration is now open.

Faculty and Staff are successfully wrapping up the Spring Semester and, following the rapid move to an online format in mid-March, there were no significant interruptions in courses. This approach was necessary following the closure of the campuses in Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac.

But, even as the world encounters the challenges presented by COVID-19, studies continue in full force at UCCI. The opportunity has never been better to expand your knowledge and/or reinvent your career. As the public higher education institution of the Cayman Islands, UCCI offers a range of online programmes with flexible schedules that you can take from home. All you need is an internet connection and a computer.

You can further your education by engaging in a quick course, completing a certification, finishing an associate/bachelor’s degree, or investing in a post-graduate master’s programme.

Classes at UCCI are being taught online and will continue this way throughout the summer semester. Enrolment is now open, and applications can be submitted on the University’s new online application portal, which allows any current and prospective student to register for the Summer Semester conveniently from home. Applying is simple, and all required documents can be uploaded online.

One of UCCI’s core values is equal educational opportunities, with multiple pathways of entry to accommodate students’ various strengths. It also provides an affordable, quality education.

Financial burdens are an increasing concern at this time in the Cayman community. UCCI can assist students with educational continuity by offering payment plans through its “Flex Finance” payment options. The options can be adapted to each student’s budget. The support allows students to achieve their goals while staying on track with personal finances.

UCCI has also worked with numerous organisations and community partners to offer scholarships and financial assistance to eligible students. Some scholarships are needs-based, while others are merit-based. In the upcoming weeks, UCCI will be announcing a list of scholarship opportunities. Please visit the UCCI webpage or contact the Student Life office for more information. If you are a qualified Caymanian, you can also apply for Government Scholarships and available financial aid, visit http://www.education.gov.ky/ to learn more.

Application for the Summer Semester has been extended until May 15, and summer classes commence on May 11. Interested students should submit their applications as soon as possible to secure a spot. Visit the online portal https://connect.ucci.edu.ky/apply/ to get started and to access the complete list of summer courses offered.

UCCI’s regular business hours will continue while the campus operates remotely: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday. To contact UCCI, email info@ucci.edu.ky or call 1-345-623-8224. The university’s Office of Student Life can also be contacted via email studentlife@ucci.edu.ky for continued student support. Students or parents who would like to consult with a member of the admissions team can do so by emailing admissions@ucci.edu.ky or calling at 1-345-623-8224. You are welcome to schedule a meeting to discuss your interests, programme of choice, admissions criteria, class schedules, and any other questions you have about the application process.
