Following the statement that was released yesterday 25th February, police can now confirm that seven persons were injured during the shooting that took place at the Ed Bush Stadium in West Bay.
All seven persons were attended to at a hospital by medical practitioners, two were seen by EMS and transported to hospital by ambulance and the remaining five arrived by private vehicles. All victims remain stable and four have since been treated and released. No other persons have reported injuries to the police at this time.
The crime scene was held overnight for day light investigations to continue. Multiple spent casing were located at the scene.
Investigations are currently underway and our working hypothesis is that this was a targeted attack with one or possibly two intended targets, that resulted in seven persons being shot and injured.
The shooting was believed to have been carried out by a single gunman who fled the scene on foot from the location.
Commissioner Kurt Walton stated, “Our detectives are actively seeking witnesses and are encouraging anyone with information to call the Major Incident Room at 649-2930 to assist with this investigation. We are committed to deploying all available resources and will do everything in our power to bring the perpetrator (s) to justice”.
