Water Authority – Cayman is celebrating a significant milestone in 2023 – 40 years of service to the Cayman Islands. The Authority has an extensive calendar of activities planned throughout the year to commemorate the anniversary, utilising the guiding principles of community service, employee recognition, and student education.
A special logo has been designed by the Authority’s Laboratory Technologist Jerry D. Banks and will be featured across platforms and promotion of events linked to the ruby anniversary. The theme of “WAC on Tap” was selected by Water Authority staff to mark the celebrations.
“We are very excited to reach this milestone and celebrate it with our staff and customers,” says Water Authority Director Dr Gelia Frederick-van Genderen.
“We hope that by the end of the celebrations, the public will better understand the essential service provided by the Authority and develop an appreciation for the staff who work hard every day to provide that service- some who have served for over 30 years. We also hope it will encourage young people in the Cayman Islands to pursue a career in the water industry as well.”
The public is invited to attend a special church service planned for Sunday, 15 January, at the Red Bay Church of God (Holiness) from 11:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. to kick off the year of celebrations.
Other activities planned for the year include customer appreciation events in both Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac, a brunch to honour Women in STEM, a children’s art competition, the development of educational resources for local schools, community service projects, recognition of long-serving employees and a gala. The public can visit the Authority’s website www.waterauthority.ky and social media pages throughout the year to learn more about planned activities.
