Public Health has issued the COVID-19 Situational Report for Epidemiological, or Epi., Week 16 (17 – 23 April 2022), Wednesday 27 April.
During Epi. Week 16, there were a total of 460 new cases of COVID-19 reported by Public Health. This was 87 cases more than what was reported in the previous Epi. Week (10 - 16 April 2022).
Officials noted that 1,419 tests were conducted in Epi. Week 16 compared to 1,427 tests in Epi. Week 15 and 1,046 tests were in Epi. Week 14.
The test positivity rate was at 33 percent for Epi. Week 16.
During Epi. Week 16, there were nine inpatients admitted to hospital. Of these, 50 percent were vaccinated. There have been 262 COVID-19 patients admitted since March 2020 to 23 April 2022.
There have been 27 deaths from COVID-19 related causes in the Cayman Islands since the beginning of the pandemic.
