World Mental Health Day is observed annually around the world on 10 October. After a successful debut last year, the World Mental Health Day symposium will take place again on the day and is aimed at highlighting the importance of mental health for everyone.
Hosted by Kelly Holding Events & Communications in partnership with multi-specialty counselling centre Infinite Mindcare, the event will be held at Camana Bay Cinemas from 9am to 2pm on Thursday, 10 October. The theme is “Prioritising Our Mental Health”.
Attendees will have the opportunity to attend a variety of sessions led by Infinite Mindcare’s team of qualified and experienced therapists. Every hour there will be four sessions to select from covering topics such as:
In addition, attendees can enjoy head and neck massages, mindful puzzles and games and refreshments from 9am as well as in between sessions. Several mental health support organisations will also have information tables at the event, including Alex Panton Foundation, CayMind and Cayman Mindcare.
“The impact of mental health challenges continues to be a concern globally, making the need for events like this so important. This symposium will provide opportunities for open dialogue about mental health and give people a place to come and receive useful and practical information they can implement right away in their everyday lives,” said Rhonda Kelly, CEO at Kelly Holding.
The last mental health commission report (2021) indicated that an increasing number of people are seeking mental health services, which is a positive sign that the stigma is decreasing. It also stated that a large percentage of the persons using these services are between the ages of 25 and 64-years old which is typically the age range when persons are in the workforce, and therefore our target audience for this event. It is for both employers and employees who want to learn new ways to support each other as they aim to meet organisational goals while acknowledging the role that mental health plays in the success of the business.”
Sutton Burke, Owner/Clinical Director at Infinite Mindcare echoed Ms. Kelly’s sentiments.
“Prioritising mental health is no longer optional; it is essential for thriving in today’s demanding world. Mental health is at the heart of how we function, both individually, and as a society. This symposium is an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the mental health challenges that many face, while also exploring innovative ways to address them,” said Ms. Burke.
“By providing access to doable, evidence-based strategies, we aim to empower attendees to foster healthier environments—both at work and in their personal lives. Our goal is to inspire insight, meaningful change, and help people develop the tools they need to navigate the complexities of modern life with resilience."
